Nutritional Health

Here at Outline Health, we focus on the bio-individuality of each client using a foundational approach to achieving optimal health and performance.

We all have our own unique bio-individuality.  Therefore, a one size fits all approach is never going to be truly successful.  Our nutritional consults and follow up sessions address this gap by evaluating what organs or systems may be under or over performing, identifying specific nutritional deficiencies, which may be underpinning your symptoms and making recommendations using a nutrient-dense, properly prepared, real food diet.

The aim of these sessions is to empower you to become knowledgeable and responsible for your own health by working with you to develop nutritional and lifestyle strategies to support and balance the foundations for health (digestion, blood sugar regulation, fatty acids, minerals and hydration).

This can help to:

Services

Rather than a quick band-aid fix, our aim is to provide a quality service by conducting professional and thorough investigations to ensure we focus on the root causes and achieve long term sustainable results.  You then have a choice on what follow-up support you receive after this session.

Initial Consultation (£75)

This face-to-face consultation is approximately 1 hour (in person or online) and complemented with as many follow-up sessions as you wish. Prior to the session, I will ask you to complete our Pre-Consultation Form together with a Nutritional Assessment Questionnaire(NAQ) and a Food Journal.  During the session we will run through your pre-consult forms and findings, explore and analyse your food journal and nutritional questionnaire, and talk about your goals and develop a strategy to help you reach them.  Within a few days, I will forward your nutrition recommendations, where I explain my evidence-based recommendations together with some nutrition education.  To ensure we get as much success as possible, I also offer 4 weeks of email support with weekly check-ins.  After this, you can decide whether or not you require any additional sessions.  If you would prefer to do this session online, a Zoom Video Conferencing link will be provided.

Please bring any medication, nutritional supplements or blood test results that you have to this appointment.

Follow-up Consultation (£45)

This session is approximately 45 minutes (in person or online) and follows an Initial Consultation.  The session includes:

Nutritional FAQs

What is a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner (NTP)?

A Nutritional Therapy Practitioner (NTP) is nutritional professional trained by the Nutritional Therapy Association. As an NTP, I focus on the bio-individuality of each of my clients. My aim is to empower you to become knowledgeable and responsible for your own health by working with you to develop nutritional and lifestyle strategies, involving involving a nutrient-dense, properly prepared, real food diet with some nutritional supplementation, to support and balance the foundations for health (digestion, blood sugar regulation, fatty acids, minerals and hydration).

How is an NTP different from a nutritionist?

An NTP believes in the bio-individuality of each client as opposed to a one size fits all approach. Therefore, I am trained in evaluating your individual needs, identifying any specific nutritional deficiencies within your body, which may be underpinning your symptoms and recommending a nutrient-dense, properly prepared, real food diet and supplemental support (if required) in order to support your body in restoring optimal health.

I use a foundational approach to my consultations, which ensures that I find the root cause of your symptoms. Fatigue, bloating, IBS, constipation, hormone imbalance, weight gain, depression etc. are some of the symptoms that can indicate an underlying nutritional deficiency.

What is a foundational approach?

PROPERLY PREPARED, NUTRIENT-DENSE, WHOLE FOOD DIET:
A properly prepared, nutrient-dense, whole food diet is the ultimate foundation of optimal health by providing the fuel and essential building blocks required to maintain health and balance.

DIGESTION & ELIMINATION:
Eating a properly prepared, nutrient-dense, whole food diet is essential, but we must actually absorb the nutrients in order to benefit from them.

BLOOD SUGAR REGULATION:
Feelings of lethargy, ravenous hunger and the “hangries” are key indicators of blood sugar dysregulation. My aim is to help you stabilise blood sugar levels to provide consistent energy, enable metabolic flexibility and reduce stress on your body.

FATTY ACIDS:
Balanced healthy fats from both animal and plant foods are critical for stable energy levels, optimal brain function, hormone balance and satiety. By determining your fatty acid requirements, we can work to restore balance and reduce inflammation within your body

MINERALS:
Minerals are not made in our bodies, therefore, we must get them from food and water. Minerals have a vast and critical role to play in our health, so deficiencies need to identified and addressed in order to maintain health.

HYDRATION:
Water is our most important nutrient. It makes up 60% of our body mass and is required in numerous processes within the body. Unfortunately, dehydration is one of the most common deficiencies. Getting enough water is critical for our overall health.  But, as with digestion, consuming enough water is only part of the issue. We must also be able to absorb the water we drink, a process which required adequate minerals (called electrolytes).

I want to lose weight, can you help me?

Yes, BUT please be be aware that there may be other issues to consider other than just your weight. Usually, weight gain or the inability to lose weight is driven by other factors that need resolving first. I don’t do quick fixes, calorie-controlled plans or rapid weight loss programmes.

My aim is to get to the bottom of why you are struggling with your weight so that changes are sustainable. The best option for long term weight loss is by eating a properly prepared, nutrient-dense, whole food diet so that we can develop the metabolic flexibility to burn fat all day, every day.
